Volleyball Game Preview: Bacon Academy Bobcats vs. Griswold Wolverines

Bacon Academy is 1-9 against Griswold since October of 2021 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Wednesday. The Bobcats will challenge the Wolverines at 4:30 p.m. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

It was a proper cat-fight when Bacon Academy duked it out with Plainfield on Wednesday. The Bobcats won by a set and slipped past the Panthers 3-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Bobcats have posted since October 4, 2024.

It was an exciting match in which no team won back-to-back sets, but at the end of the day Bacon Academy got the one that really mattered. The final score came out to 26-24, 7-25, 25-20, 17-25, 15-13.

Meanwhile, Griswold had already won six in a row and they went ahead and made it seven on Monday. They walked away with a 3-1 victory over the Wolves.

Griswold found their leader in freshman Olivia Falco, who had six aces and three digs.

Griswold was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 17 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least six aces in 20 consecutive contests.

The win was their first on the road , bumping their record up to 4-8. As for Griswold, their victory bumped their record up to 16-6.

Bacon Academy couldn't quite get it done against Griswold when the teams last played on October 1st as they fell 3-1. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of the Wolverines' Carly Rubino, who had 19 digs and one assist. Now that the Bobcats know the damage she can cause, will they be able to stop her this time? There's only one way to find out.
