Game recap: West Valley High School Football Team beats Corning

CORNING, Calif. - Marcus Simmons ran for two touchdowns and Brady Casselman added two as well as West Valley (Cottonwood, Calif.) beat Corning (Calif.) 34-7 on Saturday.

The Eagles were up 14-0 at the half after taking the lead on a touchdown run by Casselman in the first quarter.

West Valley expanded its lead to 28 points entering the fourth quarter. WV scored two times in the third, including once on a Simmons touchdown run.

Thomas Lowe made a difference for the Cardinals. The junior running back ran for one touchdown. He has now scored six touchdowns on the season.

Corning's lone touchdown came on a 2-yard run by Lowe in the fourth quarter.



The Cottonwood school had given up an average of 15.4 points prior to the contest. The seven points that CHS ended with were well below its average of 22.3 coming into the game.

A 18-10 West Valley victory was the result when the squads faced off last season.

With the win West Valley extended its winning streak to four games.
