Volleyball Recap: Manteo Takes Loss Despite Strong Performances from Easton Alexander and Raegan Sherrod

If Manteo was riding high fresh off their 3-0 takedown of Northside - Pinetown last Wednesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Redskins lost 3-0 to the Perquimans Pirates on Tuesday. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Pirates this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 3-2 on September 11th.

Manteo took the loss but they managed to make steady progress, increasing their score in every set they played. The final score came out to 25-18, 25-19, 25-23.

Raegan Sherrod and Easton Alexander certainly did their best on Tuesday to avoid the loss. Sherrod had 16 assists and six digs, while Alexander had eight digs and two aces. Alexander has been hot, having posted two or more aces the last five times she's played.

Manteo has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 13-4 record this season. As for Perquimans, they pushed their record up to 20-3 with the victory, which was their tenth straight at home.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Manteo is set to take on their familiar foe Gates County at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Perquimans will square off against rival Camden County at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
