Basketball Recap: The Classical Academy Beats Elizabeth for Their Third Straight Win

The Classical Academy won the last time they faced Elizabeth and things went their way on Friday too. The Classical Academy Titans were the clear victor by a 68-44 margin over the Elizabeth Cardinals. The Titans have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six games by 22 points or more this season.

The Classical Academy got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Ky Walker out in front who went 6 of 14 en route to 14 points in addition to five rebounds and four steals. Those four steals gave Walker a new career-high. Damian Gehauf also deserves some recognition as he posted his first block of the season.

The Classical Academy was working as a unit and finished the game with 20 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Elizabeth only posted 12 assists.

Despite the defeat, Elizabeth saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Cohen Steinke went 5 for 11 on his way to 15 points. Steinke is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last eight games he's played. Drake Brinkworth was another key player, putting up ten points and eight boards.

The win was the third in a row for The Classical Academy, bringing their record for this year to 13-2. As for Elizabeth, they have also been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last eight matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-10 record this season.

The Classical Academy will take on Falcon at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Falcon will roll in looking for their seventh straight victory, something The Classical Academy surely won't give up without a fight. As for Elizabeth, they will challenge Mitchell at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
