Softball Recap: Hillsboro/Central Valley Takes a Loss

After flying high against Northern Cass last Tuesday, Hillsboro/Central Valley came back down to earth. The H-CV Burros took a 7-4 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Central Cass Squirrels on Thursday. If the H-CV Burros were looking for revenge after losing 15-4 to the Squirrels when the teams met back in May of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Peyton Quam was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring three runs and stealing three bases while going 2-for-3. Quam is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: she's snagged at least two every time she's taken the field this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Kailee Kittelson, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI and two doubles.

Hillsboro/Central Valley's loss was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-3. As for Central Cass, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 3-1.

Looking ahead, Hillsboro/Central Valley will look to defend their home field on Friday against Red River at 4:00 p.m. As for Central Cass, they are taking a road trip to take on Thompson at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
