Baseball Recap: Elizabeth Falls Short of Montezuma-Cortez in the Playoffs

Elizabeth and Montezuma-Cortez squared off in some playoff action on Saturday, but Elizabeth had to settle for second. They fell 11-6 to the Panthers. The pitching woes were uncharacteristic for the Cardinals, who until this match were averaging 3.24 runs allowed.

Owen Moons was cooking despite his team's loss, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, one triple, and one run. Cade Taylor was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two runs.

Elizabeth does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Montezuma-Cortez, they will face off against Resurrection Christian at 12:00 p.m. on Friday. The Cougars' pitching crew has only allowed four runs per game this season, so the Panthers' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
