Basketball Recap: Payson Snaps Eight-Game Streak of Losses on the Road

Payson had lost eight games on the road dating back to last season, but after bumping their record up to 4-2 on Friday that streak is in the rearview. They walked away with a 46-38 win over the Alchesay Falcons. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Longhorns also won the last time the pair played back in January.

As for Alchesay, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-4 record this season. The contest marked their lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Alchesay's defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Max Antonio, who went 5-for-10 to rack up 12 points. Antonio is also on a roll when it comes to field goal percentage, as he's posted one of at least 50% in the last four games he's played. Kevin Gooday also deserves some recognition as he posted his first blocks of the season.

Payson and Florence will compete for holiday cheer at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Alchesay will take on Ganado in a holiday battle at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
