Football Recap: Decatur Comes Up Short at Home Against Lawton

Decatur unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They took a hard 24-6 fall against the Lawton Blue Devils on Thursday. While losing is never fun, the Raiders can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Michigan football rankings (they are ranked 291st, while the Blue Devils are ranked 108th).

This one was won in the trenches and the lion's share of the credit has to go to Greyson Burrous and Hudson Merriman. Burrous gained 113 total yards and a touchdown while Merriman rushed for 44 yards and one TD.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Decatur will host Bronson at 7:00 p.m. on the 5th. The matchup will give the Raiders their first taste of in-conference action this season. As for Lawton, they will be defending their home field for the first time this season when they go up against Ithaca at 7:00 p.m. on the 5th.
