After flying high against Fairview on Monday, Boyd County came back down to earth. The Lions took a 9-6 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Blazer Tomcats on Tuesday. The Lions' defeat signaled the end of their four-game winning streak.

Savanna Henderson was cooking despite her team's loss, going a perfect 4-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one double. She has been hot recently, having posted three or more RBI the last three times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Brooke Jacobs, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double.

Boyd County's loss was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 16-10. As for Blazer, with the victory, they broke their seven-game losing streak and moved their record to 9-11.

Boyd County and Blazer could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Kentucky Rankings. The Lions (ranked 29th) will meet Wheelersburg (ranked second) at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Blazer will take on Spring Valley at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday with a big rank disadvantage (60 vs. 19).
