Basketball Recap: Springville Red Devils vs. Wasatch Wasps
Springville lost against Wasatch back in December of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Springville Red Devils took a 47-38 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Wasatch Wasps. While losing is never fun, the Red Devils can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Utah basketball rankings (they are ranked 41st, while the Wasps are ranked seventh).
Springville lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Sami DeLlamas, who posted 13 points. Bella Esplin also deserves some recognition as she posted her first block of the season.
Peyton Behnke was her usual excellent self, going 6 for 12 on her way to 14 points and four steals for Wasatch. Another player making a difference was Filifaiesea Liava'A, who had nine points and six boards.
Springville has been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last eight contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-9 record this season. As for Wasatch, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 14-3 record this season.
