Basketball Recap: Liberty Common Comes Up Short

Liberty Common lost against Platte Valley last Tuesday, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The contest between the Liberty Common Eagles and the Platte Valley Broncos didn't end well, with the Liberty Common Eagles falling 48-32. While losing is never fun, the Eagles can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 209th, while the Broncos are ranked 103rd).

When it comes to explaining why Liberty Common lost, don't look at Akeeva Farrell. Despite the final result, she posted nine points.

Platte Valley got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Lauryn Uyemura out in front who dropped a double-double with 12 points and ten steals. Uyemura is becoming a predictor of Platte Valley's success: when she posts at least five steals the team is 13-5 (and 1-3 when she doesn't). Mia Koffler was another key player, putting up 11 points and seven boards.

Liberty Common has traveled a rocky road recently having lost six of their last seven matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-14 record this season. The victory was the third in a row for Platte Valley, bringing their record for this year to 14-8.

Liberty Common has already played their next game, a 41-33 defeat against Windsor Charter Academy on the 27th. As for Platte Valley, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 47-31 win against Sterling on the 27th.
