Baseball Game Preview: ThunderRidge Grizzlies vs. Ralston Valley Mustangs

The ThunderRidge Grizzlies will square off against the Ralston Valley Mustangs at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.

ThunderRidge easily dispatched Denver North on Wednesday, but unfortunately both the margin and the ultimate result were a different story in this one. The Grizzlies fell just short of Arapahoe by a score of 6-4 on Monday.

Eli Jackson was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he pitched six innings while giving up just two earned (and four unearned) runs off seven hits.

At the plate, Shane Christy made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored a run while going 2-for-3.

Meanwhile, Ralston Valley got themselves on the board against Fairview on Monday, but Fairview never followed suit. They came out on top against the Knights by a score of 3-0. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Mustangs as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.

Porter Peonio looked comfortable as he pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He is becoming a predictor of Ralston Valley's success: when he allows at most three hits the team is 2-1 (and 1-4 when he doesn't).

On the hitting side, Degan Gregory was excellent, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. That home run marked the first that he launched this season.

ThunderRidge has been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-5 record this season. As for Ralston Valley, their win bumped their record up to 3-5.

Ralston Valley's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: ThunderRidge has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .433. It's a different story for Ralston Valley, though, as they've only averaged .343. Will they be able to contain ThunderRidge's hitters?
