Basketball Recap: Shadow Ridge Takes a Loss

Shadow Ridge was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They took a 46-36 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Apollo Hawks. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Hawks this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 49-33 two weeks ago.

Apollo's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Murryah Crump, who almost dropped a double-double with 13 points and nine steals. Crump is becoming a predictor of Apollo's success: when she posts at least five steals the team is undefeated (and 3-8 when she doesn't). Serenity Thomas was another key player, putting up seven points along with 13 boards and three steals.

Shadow Ridge now has a losing record at 10-11. As for Apollo, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 9-8 record this season.

Coming up, Shadow Ridge and Valley Vista will face off at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday without much rest having both just played. Valley Vista will roll in looking for their seventh straight win, something Shadow Ridge surely won't give up without a fight. As for Apollo, they and Camelback will face off at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday without much rest having both just played.
