Riverside-Durham had to kick off their season on the road on Monday, but they showed no ill effects. They were the clear victors by a 3-0 margin over the Durham School of the Arts Bulldogs. This was payback for the Pirates, who suffered a 3-2 defeat the last time these two teams met.

While Riverside-Durham won a shutout, things came down to the wire in the third set they played. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-15, 25-17, 25-22.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Riverside-Durham will face off against Durham Academy at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Durham School of the Arts, they will square off against Southern School of Energy and Sustainability at 6:15 p.m. on Wednesday.
