Basketball Recap: Westwood Takes a Loss

Westwood and Viera squared off in some playoff action on Wednesday, but Westwood had to settle for second. They had to suffer through a 82-45 loss at the hands of the Viera Hawks. While losing is never fun, the Panthers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 334th, while the Hawks are ranked 53rd).

Despite the loss, Westwood had strong showings from Alex 'The Leader' Jean, who posted 16 points, and Jordan 'Real Deal' Crutchfield, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 14 boards. Crutchfield has been hot for a while, having posted ten or more rebounds the last 33 times he's played.

Westwood has been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 12-15 record this season. As for Viera, the victory was the 11th in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 20-4.

Westwood does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Viera, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 65-63 win against Melbourne on the 7th.
