Softball Recap: Volcano Vista Falls Short Against Ranked Rio Rancho

Volcano Vista faced Rio Rancho in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Thursday. The Hawks took an 8-3 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Rams. The defeat continues a trend for the Hawks in their meetings with the Rams: they've now lost four in a row.

Breezy Griego made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. The team also got some help courtesy of Lexi Trujillo, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and two RBI.

Volcano Vista now has a losing record of 8-9. As for Rio Rancho, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 11-6.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Volcano Vista will square off against rival Farmington at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Rio Rancho is set to face off against their familiar foe Cibola at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
