Basketball Recap: Niyonah Garner's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Chipley over Mosley

If Chipley was feeling good fresh off their 50-16 takedown of Bozeman last Monday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Chipley Tigers took a 40-36 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Mosley Dolphins. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Tigers came into the game with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 152nd, while the Dolphins are ranked 326th).

Several Tigers players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Niyonah Garner, who posted ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Addyson Suggs, who had eight points.

Mosley's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Faith Alvarado led the charge by putting up 14 points. Alvarado has been hot, having also posted two or more steals the last five times she's played. Paige Fennell also deserves some recognition as she posted her first assist of the season.

Chipley has traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 14-6 record this season. As for Mosley, the win was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 10-11.

A feisty cat fight is on tap when the Chipley Tigers challenge the Central Jaguars at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Mosley, they won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Bay at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
