Volleyball Game Preview: Steubenville Big Red vs. University Hawks

The Steubenville Big Red are taking a road trip to take on the University Hawks at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Steubenville is coming into the match on a four-game losing streak.

Steubenville came up short against Morgantown on Tuesday, falling 3-0.

Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-9, 25-8, 25-12.

Meanwhile, University faced John Marshall in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Tuesday. The Hawks fell just short of the Monarchs by a score of 3-2. The Hawks haven't had much luck with the Monarchs recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.

University wouldn't go down easily and took John Marshall into a fifth set but they suffered a heartbreaking six-point loss. The match finished with set scores of 25-19, 25-15, 27-29, 18-25, 15-9.

University's loss dropped their record down to 20-8-2. As for Steubenville, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-10.

Steubenville suffered a grim 3-0 defeat to University when the teams last played back in October of 2019. Can the Big Red avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
