Basketball Recap: Van Alstyne Takes a Loss

Van Alstyne fought the good fight in their overtime contest against Aubrey on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell to the Aubrey Chaparrals 61-55. While losing is never fun, the Panthers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 796th, while the Chaparrals are ranked 131st).

Van Alstyne has traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-16 record this season. As for Aubrey, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 14-5.

Coincidentally, both will both be playing Panther Creek the next time they take the court. Van Alstyne will head out to face Panther Creek at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, while Aubrey will host them at 7:30 p.m. on January 10th.
