Softball Game Preview: Mission College Prep Royals vs. Cabrillo Conquistadores

The Mission College Prep Royals will face off against the Cabrillo Conquistadores at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Cabrillo took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Mission College Prep, who comes in off a win.

On Monday, Mission College Prep beat Arroyo Grande 4-1. The Royals haven't had any issues with the Eagles recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.

Dani Rivas made a splash while hitting and pitching. She struck out 12 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with two RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Samantha Rodriguez, who scored a run while going 3-for-3. Those three hits gave her a new career-high.

Meanwhile, Cabrillo was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their seventh straight loss. They came up short against Righetti, falling 6-0. That's two games in a row now that the Conquistadores have lost by exactly six runs.

Mission College Prep picked up their first home win, bumping their record up to 7-9. As for Cabrillo, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-8.

Mission College Prep came out on top in a nail-biter against Cabrillo when the teams last played back in May of 2024, sneaking past 2-1. Do the Royals have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Conquistadores turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
