Football Game Preview: Holy Cross Indians vs. Frankfort Panthers

The Holy Cross Indians will challenge the Frankfort Panthers at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Holy Cross has five straight victories, Frankfort has seven straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Holy Cross is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They blew past Eminence 51-6 on Friday. The Indians might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four contests by 30 points or more this season.

Holy Cross found their leader in sophomore Brian Ferguson, who rushed for 102 yards and two TDs, and also threw for 101 yards and a pair of touchdowns while completing 71.4% of his passes. Those 102 rushing yards set a new season-high mark for Ferguson. Charles Oglesby was another key player, rushing for 64 yards and one score on only eight carries.

Holy Cross was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 241 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 154 rushing yards in three consecutive games.

On the defensive side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Holy Cross' defense and their three sacks. In that department, Garrett Frederick was the leader with two. Oglesby got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Frankfort challenged Paintsville last Friday. The Panthers were beaten by the Tigers 50-6.

Holy Cross' win bumped their record up to 5-0. As for Frankfort, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-5.
