Baseball Recap: Tivy Wins Going Away Against Veterans Memorial

Tivy won the last time they faced Veterans Memorial and things went their way on Friday too. The Antlers were the clear victors by a 12-3 margin over the Patriots. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Antlers.

Sam Barber spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and two unearned) runs on eight hits. He also tossed a walk, which is notable because Tivy is 4-2 when he allows at most one walk, but 7-13 otherwise.

At the plate, Tivy got a massive performance out of Robert Johnson, who scored two runs while going 3-for-4. What's more, Johnson posted three RBI, the most he's had since back in February. Guy Flores was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while going 2-for-4.

Tivy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .537. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Tivy's win bumped their record up to 11-15. As for Veterans Memorial, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost 13 of their last 14 matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-19 record this season.

Tivy will head out to take on Smithson Valley at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Veterans Memorial, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Sotomayor at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The WILDCATS will roll in looking for their fifth straight victory, something the Patriots surely won't give up without a fight.
