Twin Loup had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They blew past South Loup 62-33 on Friday. The score at the end of the third wound up being the final score as the Wolves just coasted through the last quarter.
Twin Loup found their leader in sophomore Yahya Harris, who shot 44% from the field en route to 26 points in addition to six boards and five assists. Harris has been hot, having also posted three or more steals the last five times he's played. Another player making a difference was Carter Hall, who posted 14 points and four steals.
Twin Loup was working as a unit and finished the game with 17 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as South Loup only posted seven.
Several South Loup players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Dylan Pandorf, who scored eight points. Malachi Neth was another key player, putting up six points and five rebounds.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. Twin Loup and Sandhills/Thedford will face off at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday without much rest, having both just played. As for South Loup, they won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Amherst at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday.
