Volleyball Recap: Griffin Academy Falls Despite Big Games from Saharah Galvin and Valeria Lopez

Griffin Academy entered their matchup against Aspire Richmond Ca. College Preparatory Academy on Monday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The Griffins fell just short of the Grizzlies by a score of 3-2. The Griffins were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Grizzlies apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in October of 2024.

Griffin Academy wouldn't go down easily and took Aspire Richmond Ca. College Preparatory Academy into a fifth set but they suffered a heartbreaking 11-point loss. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 17-25, 25-19, 25-13, 22-25, 15-4.

Griffin Academy's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Valeria Lopez, who had 46 digs, and Saharah Galvin, who had eight digs and four aces.

Griffin Academy's loss dropped their record down to 9-4. As for Aspire Richmond Ca. College Preparatory Academy, their victory was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 8-2.

Griffin Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Aspire Richmond Ca. College Preparatory Academy, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Bay Tech at 5:00 a.m. on Friday.
