Football Preview: Mt. Ararat/Hyde vs. Orono Riots
Mt. Ararat/Hyde will challenge the Orono Riots at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams might be coming in a bit winded given these two teams combined for 895 yards in their previous games.
Last Friday, Mt. Ararat/Hyde was able to grind out a solid victory over Lake Region, taking the game 30-20. The win made it back-to-back victories for Mt. Ararat/Hyde.
Dash Farrell went supernova for Mt. Ararat/Hyde, rushing for 239 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 8.0 yards per carry. Farrell was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 57 yards. Another rusher making a difference was Nick Doughty, who rushed for 127 yards and a touchdown on only 11 carries.
Meanwhile, Orono had already won 13 in a row dating back to last season (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 34.5 points), and they went ahead and made it 14 on Friday. They blew past the Trojans, posting a 46-6 win at home.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Orono to victory, but perhaps none more so than William Francis, who picked up 245 receiving yards and three touchdowns. Jack Brewer was another key player, throwing for 370 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 17.6 yards per attempt.
