Soccer Game Preview: Sutter vs. Dixon

The Sutter Huskies will square off against the Dixon Rams at 3:15 p.m. on Monday. Neither squad made it on the board the last time they hit the pitch, so they've probably got a bit of extra motivation.

Thursday just wasn't the day for Sutter's offense. They came up short against Las Plumas on Thursday, falling 6-0. While losing is never fun, the Huskies can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 909th, while the Thunderbirds are ranked 59th).

Meanwhile, Dixon didn't have quite enough to beat Rio Linda on Wednesday and fell 2-1.

Dixon's goal came courtesy of Fernando Cabrera, which was the first he's scored this season.

Dixon's loss was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 5-2-1. As for Sutter, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost six of their last seven matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-6 record this season.

Sutter suffered a grim 5-0 defeat to Dixon in their previous meeting back in January of 2020. Can Sutter avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
