Mater Academy East Las Vegas came tearing into Tuesday's contest with seven straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 42.9 points) and they left with even more momentum. They breezed by the Virgin Valley Bulldogs to the tune of 74-41. The matchup was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 39-19.

Mater Academy East Las Vegas' victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Lonnie Bass, who dropped a double-double on 22 points and 11 boards. The dominant performance also gave Bass a new career-high in steals (six). Miles Williams was another key player, dropping a double-double on 16 points and 11 assists.

Mater Academy East Las Vegas was working as a unit and finished the game with 21 assists. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now racked up at least 21 assists in seven consecutive games.

Virgin Valley's loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Rodrigo Lopez, who posted four points and five rebounds. Reece Leavitt also deserves some recognition as he posted his first block of the season.

Mater Academy East Las Vegas' win was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 16-6. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 76.8 points over those games. As for Virgin Valley, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 13-10.

Looking ahead, Mater Academy East Las Vegas will welcome Pinecrest Academy Sloan Canyon at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Mater Academy East Las Vegas knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past nine contests -- so hopefully Pinecrest Academy Sloan Canyon likes a good challenge. As for Virgin Valley, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 55-43 victory against Moapa Valley on the 7th.
