Basketball Recap: Newton Comes Up Short

After flying high against Arkansas City last Tuesday, Newton came back down to earth. The Newton Railroaders received a blow on Tuesday as they fell 65-48 to the Andover Trojans. The Railroaders haven't had much luck with the Trojans recently, as the team's come up short the last five times they've met.

Andover's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Joshua Kim, who went 6 of 15 on his way to 17 points and five boards. The game was Kim's sixth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Walker McClellan, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and ten rebounds.

Newton's loss dropped their record down to 5-7. As for Andover, they pushed their record up to 10-3 with the victory, which was their sixth straight on the road.

Newton will face off against Andover Central at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Andover, they will challenge Salina Central at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Andover is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 62.8 points per game this season.
