Baseball Recap: Hiawatha Comes Up Short

Hiawatha fell victim to South Beloit and their airtight pitching crew on Thursday. They lost 6-0 to the Sobos. Having soared to a lofty 12 runs in the game before, the Hawks' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

Hiawatha saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Aidan Cooper, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base.

Hiawatha has also traveled a rocky road recently, having lost seven of their last nine contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-14 record this season. As for South Beloit, the victory (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 17-7.

Hiawatha and South Beloit are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. The Hawks are taking a road trip to face off against Amboy at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for South Beloit, they will host Clinton at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
