Basketball Game Preview: Portage Warriors vs. Baraboo Thunderbirds

The Portage Warriors are taking a road trip to challenge the Baraboo Thunderbirds at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. Portage is coming into the matchup on a six-game losing streak.

Portage came up short against Watertown on Friday, falling 78-52.

Despite their defeat, Portage saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Elias Vera, who posted 13 points and seven rebounds, was perhaps the best of all. Another player making a difference was Aidan Warfield, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 11 boards.

Meanwhile, Baraboo unfortunately witnessed the end of their seven-game winning streak on Saturday. They lost 76-52 to Beaver Dam. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Thunderbirds have suffered since March 1, 2024.

Baraboo's defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 10-6. As for Portage, their loss dropped their record down to 1-11.

Portage might still be hurting after the 71-46 defeat they got from Baraboo when the teams last played back in December of 2024. Can Portage avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
