Soccer Recap: Newberry Takes a Loss

If Newberry was feeling good fresh off their 7-0 takedown of Silver Bluff last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Newberry came up short against the Fox Creek Predators on Tuesday, falling 5-1. While losing is never fun, Newberry can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina soccer rankings (they are ranked 126th, while Fox Creek are ranked 34th).

Newberry's goal came courtesy of Juliette Carmona, who's now up to four this season.

Newberry's defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 5-5-1. As for Fox Creek, the win keeps they at an undefeated 9-0.

Looking ahead, Newberry will head out on the road to take on Mid-Carolina at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Newberry's defense better be ready for this one: Mid-Carolina has averaged an impressive 4.8 goals per game this season. As for Fox Creek, they will welcome Keenan at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Fox Creek is facing Keenan at the right time seeing as Keenan is stuck on a three-game losing streak.
