Basketball Game Preview: Vail Christian Saints vs. Denver Jewish Day Tigers

The Vail Christian Saints will head out on the road to challenge the Denver Jewish Day Tigers at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Vail Christian is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 53.8 points per game this season.

Back in December of 2024, Vail Christian came up short against Crested Butte and fell 67-59.

Despite their defeat, Vail Christian saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Asher Leonard, who went 5 for 12 on his way to 14 points in addition to five rebounds and three steals, was perhaps the best of all. Leonard is crushing it when it comes to steals: he's grabbed at least two every time he's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Rayman Romanin, who posted ten points.

Even though they lost, Vail Christian was working as a unit and finished the game with 16 assists. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their assist total in three consecutive games.

Meanwhile, Denver Jewish Day didn't have too much breathing room in their match against Rocky Mountain Lutheran on Wednesday, but they still walked away with a 47-43 victory.

The win got Denver Jewish Day back to even at 1-1. As for Vail Christian, they now have a losing record at 2-3.

Vail Christian came up short against Denver Jewish Day when the teams last played back in January of 2021, falling 61-48. Thankfully for Vail Christian, Jonathan Kochavi (who dropped a double-double on 29 points and 14 boards) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
