Football Game Preview: Southlake Carroll Dragons vs. Keller Central Chargers

Southlake Carroll is a perfect 7-0 against Keller Central since October of 2018 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Dragons will host the Chargers at 7:00 p.m. One thing working in Southlake Carroll's favor is that they have posted at least 31 points every time they've taken the field this season.

Southlake Carroll's defense heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They really took it to Bell for the full four quarters, racking up a 49-0 victory. Fans of the Dragons have seen this all before: every one of the games they've played this season has ended in a blowout of 20+ points.

It was another big night for Angelo Renda, who rushed for 82 yards and two scores on only five carries, and also threw for 380 yards while completing 79.3% of his passes. That's the most rushing yards he has posted since back in December of 2024. Another player making a difference was Blake Gunter, who gained 178 total yards and a touchdown.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Southlake Carroll was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 302 rushing yards. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their rushing yard total in four consecutive matchups.

Southlake Carroll's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB three times. Robbie Ladd was especially locked on to Bell's QB and sacked him twice. Ladd is also on a roll when it comes to total tackles, as he's now made five or more in each of the last four games he's played.

Meanwhile, Keller Central didn't have too much trouble with Bell two weeks ago as they won 38-23. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Chargers.

Southlake Carroll's win bumped their record up to 9-0. As for Keller Central, their victory bumped their record up to 5-3.

Everything came up roses for Southlake Carroll against Keller Central in their previous matchup back in November of 2024, as the squad secured a 48-15 win. Do the Dragons have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Chargers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
