Soccer Recap: Hickory's Luck Takes a Turn for the Worse on Thursday

Hickory and South Point squared off in some playoff action on Thursday, but Hickory had to settle for second. They fell 2-0 to the Red Raiders. Hickory were not able to make up for their defeat to South Point from their previous meeting back in May of 2024.

The loss snapped Hickory's winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 22-4-2 record. As for South Point, they are on a roll lately: they've won 17 of their last 18 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 20-3-2 record this season.

Hickory does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for South Point, they didn't take long to hit the pitch again: they've already played their next matchup, a 1-0 win against Lake Norman Charter on the 26th.
