Volleyball Recap: Dimond Lynx vs. Service Cougars
It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Dimond can now relate to. They took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Service Cougars on Thursday. The Lynx were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Cougars apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in October.
Dimond started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 22-25, 25-23, 25-20, 25-17.
Sarah Dittman paced Dimond's offense, picking up 13 kills. Dittman got some help from
Grace Petru and her 19 assists.
Mecca Goldsberry controlled things from the service line, finishing with two aces.
Sophia Montes had a dynamite game for Service, getting 35 digs. Montes has been hot , having posted ten or more digs the last seven times she's played.
Dimond's defeat dropped their record down to 46-9-4. As for Service, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 34-20-2.
Dimond wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 3-0 victory against Chugiak on the 15th. Service has also already played their next match, a 3-0 loss against South Anchorage on the 15th.
