Basketball Game Preview: Oconto Blue Devils vs. Wittenberg-Birnamwood Chargers

The Oconto Blue Devils will head out to challenge the Wittenberg-Birnamwood Chargers at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Oconto can't be too worried about heading out to take on Wittenberg-Birnamwood: they just beat Valders at home, who had been dominant on their own court up to that point. Oconto came out on top against Valders by a score of 57-46 on Friday.

Meanwhile, Wittenberg-Birnamwood put another one in the bag on Thursday to keep their perfect season alive. They breezed by Amherst to the tune of 56-29. The Chargers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 12 matches by 23 points or more this season.

Wittenberg-Birnamwood pushed their record up to 18-0 with the victory, which was their 19th straight at home dating back to last season. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 66.5 points over those games. As for Oconto, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 12-5 record this season.

Things could have been worse for Oconto, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 58-39 loss to Wittenberg-Birnamwood in their previous matchup back in December of 2023. Can Oconto avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
