The Terre Haute North Vigo Patriots will venture away from home to face off against the Carmel Greyhounds at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Terre Haute North Vigo has five straight victories, Carmel has four straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Terre Haute North Vigo hadn't beaten Sullivan on the road since May 17, 2017 but that history sure didn't bother them on Thursday. The Patriots blew past the Golden Arrows 14-2. Considering the Patriots have won ten matches by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
Kyleigh Walker made a big impact no matter where she played. She tossed five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off six hits. Walker was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two runs and one RBI.

In other batting news, Terre Haute North Vigo got a massive performance out of Madi Strange, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. That's the most hits Strange has posted over her last 11 contests. Kenzie Zigler was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three doubles, two runs, and one stolen base.
Terre Haute North Vigo kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 17 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in ten consecutive games.
Meanwhile, Monday just wasn't the day for Carmel's offense. They came up short against Fishers on Monday, falling 12-0. The matchup marked the first time this season in which the Greyhounds were not able to get on the board.
Terre Haute North Vigo's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 19-5. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.0 runs on average over those games. As for Carmel, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-16.
Carmel's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Terre Haute North Vigo has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 11.3 hits per game. It's a different story for Carmel, though, as they've been averaging 8.9 hits. Given Terre Haute North Vigo's sizable advantage in that area, the Greyhounds will need to find a way to close that gap.
Terre Haute North Vigo came out on top in a nail-biter against Carmel in their previous matchup back in May of 2024, sneaking past 11-10. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Patriots since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
