League recap: Thunder Ridge tops Natoma to extend winning streak

Northern Plains (8 Man) recap Oct. 3, 2012

Thunder Ridge extended the longest winning streak in Northern Plains (8 Man) this week by beating Natoma, 56-0. The victory was the fourth in a row for the Longhorns.

St. John's/Tipton Catholic and Northern Valley played the most hotly contested game in the league this week, with St. John's/Tipton Catholic eventually emerging with a 32-28 victory. Trey Dubbert threw for 107 yards and one touchdown in the win.

Braydan Browning made the biggest impact on defense this week as Wilson defeated Healy/Western Plains. The senior racked up two sacks.

Eriq Perez was the best wideout in the league this week as the Bluejays topped the Huskies. Perez racked up three receptions for 63 yards. Luke Eilert helped St. John's/Tipton Catholic's passing attack out by catching three balls for 42 yards.

Marcus Denham was the most productive running back in Northern Plains (8 Man) this week. In 18 carries, he ran for 167 yards as the Dragons bested Northern Valley. Browning also contributed to the rushing game with 111 yards on the ground.

Wilson's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Dragons feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Jordan Bess has thrown for 719 yards and eight touchdowns this season, while Cole Zelenka has 22 catches for 313 yards. Denham leads the league in rushing with 736 yards.

A big matchup in the league this week will be when Chase takes on Tescott. At the moment, the Kats are in sixth, while the Trojans are in ninth.

Thunder Ridge took down the Tigers 56-0 last week, the largest margin of any game.
