Volleyball Recap: Montrose Extends Home Winning Streak to 11

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Montrose had no problem doing just that on Saturday. They were the clear victors by a 3-0 margin over the Silver Creek Raptors. The Red Hawks were shut out 2-0 the last time they took on the Raptors, so the Red Hawks were just returning the favor.

Montrose was especially dominant in the second set. The match finished with set scores of 25-21, 25-7, 25-17.

Their offense was headlined by Maggie Legg and Marcella Mendoza, who picked up 12 kills apiece. They got some help from Lilly Nelson and her 28 assists. Mendoza was also solid from the service line: she led the team with five aces.

Montrose pushed their record up to 21-3 with the victory, which was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season. As for Silver Creek, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-16.

Coincidentally, Montrose and Silver Creek will both be playing Palmer the next time they take the court. The Raptors will head out to face the Terrors at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, while the Red Hawks will play them later in the day, at 2:00 p.m.
