Softball Game Preview: Solon Spartans vs. Williamsburg Raiders

Solon hasn't had much luck against Williamsburg recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Spartans will challenge the Raiders at 5:30 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.

Williamsburg will take on a team with plenty of momentum: Solon extended their winning streak to five on Wednesday. The Spartans never let South Tama County get on the board and left with a 10-0 victory. While the Spartans didn't have the best season last year (they finished 18-25), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Meanwhile, Williamsburg made easy work of Treynor on Saturday and carried off a 13-3 win. The result was nothing new for the Raiders, who have now won 11 matchups by six runs or more so far this season.

Williamsburg has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won ten of their last 11 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-2 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.4 runs over those games. As for Solon, their win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-4.

Solon couldn't quite finish off Williamsburg in their previous matchup back in June of 2024 and fell 4-2. Can the Spartans avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
