Football Recap: Itasca Takes a Loss

Itasca extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to seven on Friday, dropping them down to 0-6. They were dealt a 49-0 defeat at the hands of the Dawson Bulldogs. The Wampus Cats lost against the Bulldogs in their previous head to head back in October of 2024, too, but the margin this time around was even wider than the 27-6 score last time.

As for Dawson, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 3-4. Their offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

It was another big night for Brant Boatright, who rushed for 190 yards and two scores while picking up 10.0 yards per carry, and also threw for 103 yards and three touchdowns. He was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 64 yards. Dawson's leading receiver Chace Thomas was Boatright's top target yet again, picking up 52 receiving yards and a pair of TDs.

Coincidentally, Itasca and Dawson will both be playing Valley Mills the next time they take the field. The Wampus Cats will host the Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, while the Bulldogs will head out to face them at 7:00 p.m. on the 24th.
