Soccer Recap: Godley Proves Higher State Rank Is No Mistake

Godley's game last Friday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Wednesday. Their defense stepped up to hand the Brownwood Lions a 2-0 shutout. Given the Wildcats' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas soccer rankings (they are ranked 63rd, while the Lions are ranked 219th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Lexi Tyler and Arynn Long scored both of Godley's goals, bringing their combined season tally to 16 goals.

Godley's victory bumped their record up to 5-1. As for Brownwood, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 8-2.

Godley will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Venus at 5:00 p.m. on February 4th. Brownwood has already played their next contest (against Diamond Hill-Jarvis), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
