Recap: Arlington Christian vs. Hills Academy Knights
Arlington Christian had already won five in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 19.8 points), and they went ahead and made it six on Tuesday. They walked away with a 67-58 victory over Hills Academy. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Arlington Christian's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Davon Aikens, who scored 19 points along with three steals. Aikens is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last seven games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Chezi Essel, who scored 14 points along with eight rebounds and two steals.
Despite the loss, Hills Academy saw an underclassman step up: Micah Hamlin scored 21 points. Another player making a difference was Adrian Campbell, who scored 13 points.
Arlington Christian pushed their record up to 8-6 with that victory, which was their third straight on the road. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 72.7 points per game. As for Hills Academy, their defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 13-5.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Arlington Christian will square off against Cumberland Christian Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Hills Academy, they will head out on the road to challenge Scholars Guild Academy at 7:45 p.m. on Thursday.
