Basketball Recap: Samy Chandler's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Johns Creek over North Gwinnett

Johns Creek lost against North Gwinnett back in December of 2021 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. The Johns Creek Gladiators came up short against the North Gwinnett Bulldogs, falling 57-37. While losing is never fun, the Gladiators can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 439th, while the Bulldogs are ranked 172nd).

Johns Creek's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Samy Chandler, who posted nine points. The team also got some help courtesy of Grace Landeck, who scored 11 points along with six boards and five assists.

Even though they lost, Johns Creek was working as a unit and finished the game with ten assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

This is the second loss in a row for Johns Creek and nudges their season record down to 3-12. As for North Gwinnett, their win bumped their record up to 8-5.

Johns Creek will venture away from home to face off against Seckinger at 6:00 p.m. on January 7th. As for North Gwinnett, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 41-40 defeat against South Forsyth on the 3rd.
