Recap: Penns Manor Comets vs. Purchase Line Red Dragons
The Penns Manor Comets came into Wednesday's contest having lost three straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They really took it to Purchase Line for the full four quarters, racking up a 61-26 victory on the road. That looming 61-26 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for Penns Manor yet this season.
Carter Smith continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 24 points along with five rebounds and five steals. He is trending in the right direction, as he's improved his point production for three games straight. The team also got some help courtesy of Amin Lieb, who scored four points along with nine assists and six rebounds.
Several Red Dragons players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Stephen Perruso, who scored nine points. AJ Chambers was another key contributor, scoring six points.
Penns Manor's win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 6-12. As for Purchase Line, they dropped their record down to 1-17 with that defeat, which was their third straight at home.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Penns Manor will square off against the Stingers at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Marion Center focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 16 on Wednesday. As for Purchase Line, they will head out on the road to challenge the Panthers at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. River Valley presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than the Red Dragons in Pennsylvania (the Panthers are ranked 279th, while the Red Dragons are ranked 735th).
