Basketball Recap: Temecula Valley Takes a Loss

Temecula Valley entered their contest against Great Oak on Tuesday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The Temecula Valley Golden Bears were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 73-72 to the Great Oak Wolfpack. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Golden Bears this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 77-72 back in January.

Despite the loss, Temecula Valley saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Jeremiah Profit went 8 for 13 to rack up 23 points and six rebounds. The game was Profit's seventh in a row with at least 20 points. Another player making a difference was Taj Jackson, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and ten boards.

Even though they lost, Temecula Valley smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in five consecutive matches.

Temecula Valley's defeat dropped their record down to 15-12. As for Great Oak, their victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 20-7.

Temecula Valley didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, an 82-80 loss against Murrieta Valley on the 5th. As for Great Oak, they have also already played their next game, a 53-51 defeat against Murrieta Mesa on the 5th.
