Baseball Recap: San Tan Foothills Victorious

San Tan Foothills's game on Monday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Wednesday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 7-6 victory over the Bourgade Catholic Golden Eagles. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Sabercats have posted since March 31st.

Eli Knox made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching two innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two doubles, one run, and one RBI.

Knox wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Mason Conner, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one double. Joseph Lorona was another, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.

San Tan Foothills' victory bumped their record up to 6-16. As for Bourgade Catholic, they have been struggling recently as they've lost 12 of their last 15 matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-15 record this season.

We've got plenty of inter-region action coming up soon. San Tan Foothills will challenge rival Payson at 3:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Bourgade Catholic is set to face off against their familiar foe Benjamin Franklin at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
