Basketball Recap: Clover Garden School Victorious

On Friday, the Clover Garden School Grizzlies earned a 60-51 win over the Phoenix Academy Firebirds.

It was another big night for Brayden DeAlto, who dropped a double-double with 15 points and ten boards. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in blocks (two). Joshua Akers was another key player, putting up six points in addition to 17 rebounds and four blocks.

Clover Garden School smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 18 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in five consecutive matches.

Despite the loss, Phoenix Academy still got an impressive performance from Ervin Montgomery, who posted 17 points along with eight boards and seven steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Chayse Gallo, who had 16 points.

Clover Garden School's victory bumped their record up to 8-11. As for Phoenix Academy, their loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 6-18.

Clover Garden School has already played their next game, a 64-58 defeat against Triangle Math & Science on the 10th. As for Phoenix Academy, they will be playing at home against Community Baptist at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Phoenix Academy is facing Community Baptist at the right time seeing as Community Baptist is stuck on a six-game losing streak.
