Baseball Game Preview: Ukiah Wildcats vs. Cardinal Newman Cardinals

Ukiah hasn't had much luck against Cardinal Newman recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The Wildcats will welcome the Cardinals at 4:00 p.m.

Ukiah is headed into Wednesday's matchup looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight game on Thursday. They fell 5-1 to Maria Carrillo.

Ukiah saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was George Gibbs, who went 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Cardinal Newman entered their tilt with Maria Carrillo on Friday with three consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with four. They never let the Pumas get on the board and left with a 10-0 victory.

Cardinal Newman also got a great performance from Josh Jannicelli as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 14 over 5.2 innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts Jannicelli has posted since back in April of 2024.

Ukiah's defeat dropped their record down to 7-6. As for Cardinal Newman, their win bumped their record up to 7-4.
