Softball Recap: Sherman Wins Going Away Against Anna

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Walnut Grove, Sherman was happy to have turned things around on Friday. They blew past the Anna Coyotes 16-1. With that win, the Bearcats brought their scoring average up to 6.4 runs per game.

Kendyll Applegate tossed a big game, pitching five innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit.

On the hitting side, Brennah Mask was a standout: she scored two runs while going 3-for-4. Another player making a difference was Chloe Riley, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3.

Sherman's victory bumped their record up to 7-17-1. As for Anna, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost nine of their last ten games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-11-1 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Sherman will welcome Denison at 6:45 p.m. on Tuesday. The Bearcats' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Yellow Jackets have averaged an impressive 6.4 runs per game this season. As for Anna, they will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against Walnut Grove at 6:30 p.m.
